Mickey Thompson off-road performance tyres rollout!
With a worldwide reputation amongst off-road enthusiasts as being the ultimate in tyres, Mickey Thompson off-road performance tyres are now available here in New Zealand.National commercial and 4WD equipment specialist Fully Equipped has been granted exclusive New Zealand distribution rights for the Mickey Thompson range. Wayne Robertson, Marketing Manager for Fully Equipped unveiled the Mickey Thompson off road tyres, known as the Baja series at the recent product launch in Hamilton. Heading the range is the Baja Claw, a directional 4X4 off road tyre. This tyre is designed for serious off-road use. It takes tyre technology to a new level with its mix of side wall design, tread depth, unique running compound and patented side biters designed to deliver class leading adhesion and rock resistance with excellent mud cleansing properties. With its directional tread design and perhaps the worldís gnarliest sidebiters, all hung on a bias-ply carcass, with thick and meaty sidewalls, this is an extreme use tyre Wayne explained. The Baja Claw Radial is of similar design to the Baja Claw but of radial construction. While still an aggressive off road tyre, its sidewalls are slightly softer with less prominent side biters making it more suited to both off and on-road travel. The Baja MTX, of radial construction is an all round off and on road tyre, offering more precise handling and a soft and quiet ride. Wayne noted that if anyone in the audience has been searching for a set of tyres that is ideal for every condition, then this tyre is it. Rubber that will bite the ground when traction is needed, but wont whine and howl on the road the way many aggressive tread designs do. A tread pattern that will work in loose soil, mud, sand and rock. Something that wont slide off the road the minute it gets wet.
